March 22 – North American Wildlife Celebration

Posted on March 22, 2017

What could be more wonderful than a chance to celebrate wildlife?

When I say "wildlife," do you think only of large and beautiful mammals? Do you also consider birds? How about smaller or uglier creatures, or animals that have no bones?

Here are some examples of North American wildlife we can celebrate today, many of which are endangered or threatened.

California condor
Female blunt-nosed leopard lizard
Giant sea bass
Karner blue butterfly
Kemps Ridley sea turtle
Louisiana pine snake
Marsh wren
Moose
Puma (also called cougar or mountain lion)
Sea nettle
Tarantula
