Have you heard of the Happy Wall?



At the Life Is Beautiful concert in Las Vegas (October 24 through October 26, 2014), yesterday's featured artist, Thomas Dambo, erected a Happy Wall like the one he'd created in Copenhagen. The Danish Happy Wall was the star of more than 7 thousand photos on Instagram, and creating Happy Walls elsewhere of course just enlarged the count!

Hashtag Happy Wall! I just checked on Instagram, and there are now 17,600 + photos with #HappyWall. But closer inspection showed me that a lot of those were just about happy-making wall decor!

Dambo's Happy Walls are interactive - so people can easily change the message and even
customize the message - like a marriage proposal! - making it even more Insta-worthy!






The messages - and the occasional picture - are created by opening or closing little rectangular doors to make that "pixel" black or colored. Every open door makes a spot of one of the rainbow colors, and every closed door makes a black spot.

October 24 - Troll Alert!

Building giant trolls out of recycled wood -  old pallets, fences, even a shed - that's awesome!





Even better: hiding those giants in the wilderness, so that
people can discover them - wow! Awesome squared!




Danish artist Thomas Dambo made six giant sculptures and hid them in the woods surrounding Copenhagen. Each sculpture had a poem that gave a clue to the next one's location, and Dambo provided a treasure map with "X"s marking the spots!






I love that Dambo encourages hiking, enjoying wilderness, and solving puzzles. He repurposes old wood, and he invites the community to help build the sculptures. It's actually more like awesome cubed!



And now an arboretum in Chicago is offering a Dambo Troll-Hunt experience to people in the U.S.! Six "colossal" trolls are hiding in the botanic garden's "far-reaching" forest - and apparently in the occasional clearing:


And a Colorado town has a Dambo troll sculpture, as well!



Wish I could see a Dambo troll! Maybe someday?
