September 18 - Read an e-Book Day

Posted on September 18, 2020

There's something about a beautiful hardback book...

Large format "coffee table" books are especially
wonderful to own, with their thick paper and amazing
photographs or artwork.

...and there's something about a paperback book...
Paperback books are inexpensive; they're easy
to swap with friends and are cheap enough that
you can take them to the beach or pool without
worrying about ruining an electronic device.

...but eBooks are super great, too! Here's why:

  • You can more easily read them in dark settings without disturbing others. Watching TV together as a family, reading in bed, reading on a plane when the lights are down and most folks are sleeping - the gentle glow of an e-Reader screen is much easier for the reader AND less disturbing to others than are most other lighting situations (lamps, flashlights, etc.).
  • You can get books from many more authors who haven't been able to convince a publisher to put LOADS of money into printing and marketing their books.
  • You can get older books that are hard to find even in online stores - including some books that are out of print and WAY expensive in said online stores.
  • You can get books very quickly downloaded rather than taking the time to go to a library or bookstore, or waiting for a delivery!

  • You can easily carry 10 or more books downloaded onto one lightweight e-reader or large-format phone!
