Primetime Emmy Awards! Golden Globes! A Screen Actors Guild Award!
Actor and producer Peter Dinklage, who was born on this date in 1969, is probably most famous for his role in the HBO television series Game of Thrones. But he's also appeared in bunches of movies, including one of the Narnia movies and some of the Marvel movies. Of course he's had roles on stage and on other TV shows and has done voice acting for animated features. |

Only four feet five inches tall, Dinklage has the medical condition called achondroplasia, or dwarfism. Most people with this condition prefer to be called little people.
Dinklage found it hard to break into show biz, at first, because he refused to take clichéd little-people roles as an elf or leprechaun. He has pointed out that many roles for little people are played for laughs or are the magical-person-full-of-wisdom trope. They don't have romantic feelings or normal human-being problems or even flaws! By holding out for more complex roles, Dinklage managed to build an amazing career.
