May 21 - World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development

Posted on May 21, 2019

This United Nations holiday is based on the fact that there is a cultural aspect to most wars and conflicts.

Participants in a U.N. forum on indigenous peoples.

The people fighting one another often have different religions, and/or different languages, and/or different customs.

So building connections between different cultures, creating respectful dialogue and striving for mutual understanding is important for peace and stability. Treasuring rather than fearing cultural diversity is important for peace and stability. Encouraging sustainable development and the flow of cultural goods like sculpture, jewelry, clothing, and so on is important for peace and stability.

Bonus: celebrating diversity makes the world a more interesting, more fun, and more delicious place!
