January 6 – Armed Forces Day in Iraq

Posted on January 6, 2019

"Armed Forces" and "Iraq" don't make the most comfortable of pairings - after all, it wasn't that long ago that many nations in the world were embroiled in a very unpopular war with the Iraq government and then non-state forces within Iraq.

How unpopular was the war? We've never seen anything like it: before the war even started, three million people in Rome and maybe as many as 11 million people worldwide protested, trying to prevent the war!

That protest was the largest in the history of the world...

...And still, the enormous pre-war protest wasn't enough to stop the war!

As upsetting as recent Iraqi history has been, Iraq has amazing things to offer the world and has a very long, deep, rich history stretching back to some of the world's first civilizations...

It's not all camels and deserts...
