May 17 – Happy Birthday, Tina Fey

Posted May 17, 2015

Tina Fey is big in television and movies. She's famous for such shows as 30 Rock, for her comedy bits on Saturday Night Live, and for movies such as Mean Girls and Muppets Most Wanted.

She is much lauded and rewarded-with-awards as a comedian, actress, writer, and producer. Here are just the biggest awards:
  • 8 Emmy Awards
  • 2 Golden Globe Awards
  • 5 Screen Actors Guild Awards
  • 4 Writers Guild of America Awards

She was even nominated for a Grammy Award for her autobiography!

Fey's parents exposed her to comedy all through her childhood, watching funny movies or TV shows with her. She knew that comedy was her thing by the time she was in middle school. She was also a bit of an over-achiever; in high school she was an honors student and a member of the choir, drama club, and tennis team, plus editor of the school's newspaper. She earned a B.A. in drama.

Fey frequently played Sarah Palin,
candidate for Vice President.
As a performer, writer, and producer, Fey remains an over-achiever. She not only stars in movies and on TV shows, she has written and produced entire series of shows (such as the new and funny Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, on Netflix), she has put on a live two-woman show, she has written a book, she has hosted awards shows, she does charity work – she has even been a celebrity judge on Iron Chef America!

Hooray and yay for Tina Fey!
