Would you like to see more than 150,000 boxwood trees cut into geometric forms?


Château de Marqueyssac in France has some pretty fantastic topiary gardens that were first planted in the mid-1800s. Julien de Cerval loved Italy and built his château and gardens with his memories of that country as his guide.

The gardens and château changed owners and fell into disrepair and then, in 1996, were restored and opened to the public. Today is the anniversary of that opening.








Wow, huh?

Apparently, in the summer, there are workshops about how to train and prune boxwoods, in the day, and the gardens are lit up by a thousand candles, in the night. Lovely!
