December 6 – Ever-Guarding the Everglades

Posted on December 6, 2017

Most National Parks keep
safe amazing natural structures such as rock arches, deep canyons, geysers and hot springs, cliffs and peaks.

But in 1947, one of the largest National Parks in the United States was created to keep safe a fragile ecosystem: the Everglades National Park, in Florida.

The Everglades is made up of a series of wetlands. Swamps and streams, ocean inlets and marshes, mangrove forests and estuaries...

The Everglades are home to wonderful and unique animals:

Incredible large creatures such as the American crocodile and the American alligator...

Endangered creatures such as the Florida panther...

The slow and peaceful manatee...

And hundreds of species of birds and fish, and other creatures.

In order to enjoy the Everglades, many people hike or bike, row or ride a tour boat...
