Stewart's
Root Beer Day
If
your dad loves root beer, be sure to pick up Stewart's Root Beer for
him to enjoy today—and point out that it is only every seven years
or so that Stewart's Root Beer Day also falls on Father's Day!
Stewart's
Root Beer was named the top root beer in the 2006 World Cup of Root
Beer. Although it is known for its old-fashioned yumminess (it was
introduced by Frank Stewart in 1924), it does contain high-fructose
corn syrup.
Did
you know...?
- I'm sure you already known that “original recipe” and “old-fashioned flavor” doesn't always mean safer and more nutritious. Old-fashioned root beer used to be made primarily with sassafras roots, but the oil from these roots is now believed to be carcinogenic (cancer-causing), so companies use artificial sassafras flavoring.
Root beer + Ice cream = Float! |
- Every
recipe for root beer is different, but many include flavorings such
as vanilla, wintergreen, cherry, sarsaparilla, nutmeg, acacia, anise
(licorice), molasses, cinnamon, clove, and honey.
