– Town Festivals

From June through September, the towns of Andorra each have their turn to hold a festival. Today is festival time for both Encamp (August 14-17) and La Massana (August 15-16).

Andorra is a tiny country in Europe. (It is only about as large in area as Tulsa, Oklahoma, New Orleans, and San Jose, California.) It is landlocked, which means it does not border any ocean or sea, and it is perched in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain.

Andorra is known for this spa, called Caldea.
The only official language of the nation is Catalan, which is a Romance language related to such languages as Spanish and French, which are also spoken in Andorra. TV and radio stations use Catalan, and free classes in the language are given to immigrants. Most people in Andorra speak two or more languages—with one of them of course being Catalan!

Andorra as a nation is quite wealthy and healthy, and people who live there have the third highest life expectancy in the world! One reason for its economic success is tourism; people love to hike and ski in its mountains. Check out tourism in Andorra here and here.
