Independence Day – Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire)

This holiday celebrates the African nation's independence from France in 1960. However, I'm not so sure how many celebrations there will be, since the nation has been suffering from violent political upheaval since the 1990s.

This west African nation grows a lot of coffee and cocoa, and also pineapple and palm oil. The name “Ivory Coast” refers to the highly prized (and expensive) elephant tusks that used to be traded in this area.

Here are some African-themed activities to explore.
