The
last day of Celebrate Your Name Week, today is the day to begin or
extend a journey to knowing your heritage name by name, one ancestor
at a time. There are websites that charge money for access to records
such as military records, the U.S. Social Security Death Index, and
so forth. (Ancestry dot com has more than eight BILLION records!) But
I also read that there is good free genealogical resources, too.
Gramps is rated one of the best free genealogical software programs,
and Americans can use the the free genealogy websites gathered at the
USGenWeb Project.
I
enjoy the genealogy show “Who Do You Think You Are?” on NBC.
The website allows you to watch those episodes that have already
aired and also offers trivia quizzes, a 14-day free trial at Ancestry
dot com, and other special features.
FamilyTree Kids is a genealogy website especially for kids.
